Get free amazon gift cards by using Swagbucks

I mentioned Swagbucks  in a recent post.
Do you ever search the internet?  I assume the answer is yes.  Would you like to get rewarded when you search?  I bet the answer is yes.  I have made over $100 in amazon gift cards just by using Swagbucks as my search engine.

What are Swagbucks?
Swagbucks is a site that lets you earn Swagbucks (points) by literally just searching the web… something we do on a daily basis anyways! They also have an excellent referral program! If you refer someone over to Swagbucks and they earn a Swagbuck, you will earn a Swagbuck too–up to 1000 Swagbucks! So you could potentially earn 1000 Swagbucks from each friend you refer! Plus, once you accumulate enough Swagbucks, you can cash them in for various rewards, including Amazon.com gift cards 9my personal favorite)!

How do you get started?
  • Go here and register on Swagbucks by creating an account
  • You will get some Swagbucks just for signing up!
  • After registering, you can immediately start searching for anything you want on the web just by using the Swagbucks search engine!
  • Periodically, while searching, you may see a pop up that says you’ve won anywhere from 1 to 10 or more in Swagbucks. I usually "win" swagbucks twice but sometimes three times a day.
  • Another way to earn Swagbucks, is by entering a Swagcode that is released almost everyday. This is a special code that you can enter in the swagcode box and you will instantly earn Swagbucks without having to search for them! How do you get this special code? Go to the Swagbucks homepage, click on “Ways to Earn” in the top left, then click on “Special Offers” and then click on the “No Obligation Offers” blue box on the right.
Once you get to this page, it will state this:
Welcome to Swag Bucks Special Offers. Sign up for the free money-saving offers you like,
feel free to skip the rest, and find a special swag code reward at the end.
Skip ALL the offers by clicking the skip button or the See Next Offer button beneath the advertisement. Finally after about 7 pages you’ll be awarded with a Swagcode! Enter the code in the box provided on the homepage to see how much you’ve earned.
  • After you’ve earned enough points, you can click on the upper tab labeled “Prizes”. Scroll down and under the categories section on the left hand side you should see “Gifts and Rewards”–click there. Now you can start scrolling through all the gift cards they have available. The Amazon.com gift card is by far my favorite reward! You can score a $5 Amazon.com gift card with just 45 Swagbucks, so literally in a month (possibly less) you could earn a $5 Amazon.com gift card!

Will you make your living on Swagbucks?  No. Will you make some money? Yes. Is it easy and free?  Yes and yes!!

So far I have earned over $100 in Amazon gift cards.  This won't pay the mortgage but it is something. Get mom and dad on board.  Get your friends on board.  Remember you get matched buck for buck until they reach 1000.  There are tons of other prizes.  I just find that Amazon gets the best bang for my swagbuck. Did you know you can buy groceries on Amazon?  I recommend saving up enough so that you have free shipping. I think your purchase has to be $25 or more.

Here is a recent screen shot of $120 in Amazon gift cards that I have redeemed.

Let me know if you decide to swagbuck!

Free preschool worksheets

My daughter and I have been working on "at" words.  I found these free printable phonics sheets.
These are a great supplement to the kindergarten hooked on phonics books that we are using.  I particularly like the idea of making a memory game out of the at words.  Just print two copies of the at flashcards.  Cut and play.

This site also has some pre-printing practice worksheets that I'm going to print out as well as letter printing worksheets.

Mega Swagbucks Day!

Today and every Friday is Mega Swagbucks Day!
That means it should be even easier to collect your swagbucks and get even more just by doing your searches. I've earned over $50 in free gift cards just by searching with Swagbucks! I don't know how many times I've gotten swagbucks for searching for Facebook or other places I go to regularly.  If you don't know much about swagbucks check out my article on how to get free gift cards with swagbucks.

Safeway I wish you knew your own coupon policies!

So I'm at Safeway tonight with my plan all ready.  They're having this great deal on  Marie's dressing that I was going to get in on.  If you buy 5 then each are only $.99.  I happen to have 5 coupons for these for $1 off making them all free. I packed these into my cart along with some fuji apples that are on sale for .88/lb. The cashier put all my coupons through with no problem and then decided that on second thought she wouldn't take the coupons after all.  She said that since the item was only $.99 she couldn't take $1 off.  I said "well, can't you just take the coupon down to $.99?" and she said no.  Now, since she was the cashier manager (according to her name tag) I didn't really think I could do anything.  So I just paid for my apples and went on my way.  I knew this wasn't quite right so I called corporate at 1-877-723-3929.  I politely asked if it was Safeway's policy to not accept coupons that were higher than the price of the item. She said no. In cases like this the coupon should be adjusted down. So she apologized and talked with my Safeway and then connected me.  My safeway also said that my cashier should have adjusted the coupon down and didn't understand what the issue was.

I wish I had asked for a manager while I was there or called while I was in the store but I just wanted to get home.  The employees should know the coupon policy as well as their customers.

Milk coupons!

I don't know about you but my family goes through a lot of milk.  In fact we consume at least 2 gallons per week.  These days I almost always use a coupon for milk and here is a site where you can print as many coupons as you want.  I've used milk coupons at Safeway, Walgreens and CVS.  If I used one of these coupons all year I'd save  over $57.  I don't know about you but it is worth it to me.  Just go here to get your milk coupon.  Also go here to get cheese and other dairy product coupons.  Just scroll to the bottom of the page.

Update:  I've used these coupons from the newspaper before.  I think they're from Smart Source and never had a problem.  However, tonight at Safeway the ones I printed didn't work.  Lame.  I'll have to look into it a little further.

UPDATE:  I figured out why they don't work at Safeway.  Wrong brand of milk. Oops!  But our CVS and Walgreens carry this brand so they work just find there!

Six Months of Free Magazines from Thriving Family

Right now you can get six months of free magazines at Thriving Family Magazine. This is a magazine from Focus on the Family. Just go here then scroll down to the bottom of page.  Hurry!  This probably won't last.  I just did it and there's no credit card involved.

Get the best deals on your online purchases

Too bad money doesn't grow on trees.

You're wasting money if you're shopping online without getting a percentage back every time.

I use 2 sites to get cash back on all my online purchases.  I always compare the two to see which one has the highest payout and coupon code for whatever store I am shopping from.

The first site is Ebates. You get a $5 sign up bonus if you’re a new member and then a certain percentage back for purchasing through their site.  I have seen up to 10% cash back!  Plus they make finding the codes for your stores simple.   Ebates tracks the purchases you make and sends you a rebate once you hit $20. You can also get a few dollars for referring new members to Ebates.  Godiva, Target, Barnes and Noble, Staples, Old Navy and Overstock.com are among the over 1200 online stores you can shop from by using Ebates.  They send out a rebate check every 3 months if your balance is over $5.01.  This does not include your  sign up bonus.  So the first check that you receive will be at least $10.01.

The second site that I use that offers cash back on your online purchases is Shopathome. This site also offers coupons for over 3,000 online stores.  It offers printable coupons as well. It works similar to Ebates in that it offers a percentage cash back for your online purchases. Shopathome has a little higher wait for payout.  You have to hit $20 but I definitely think it is worth the wait.  I shopped online a lot during Christmas and I am at $18.06 and counting.

Remember how I said I always compare between these two.  Well I almost always use Shopathome when I make my Avon purchases because they usually offer a 9% cash back reward whereas Ebates usually only offers 4% cash back with Avon.  I say usually because both sites vary their cash back rewards and sometimes they'll offer specials and double days for different online stores.

With Valentines Day coming up this is the perfect time to check one of these sites out!  Once you use these you'll never want to shop online without it.

Follow my referral codes if you join.   That way we'll both benefit!

Just click on the word Ebates
Or click on Shopathome

Let me know if you join or if you have any questions.

Ream of paper only .75 at Staples

This is good through Jan 30th.  This deal is dead but be on the lookout for other rebate offers from Staples.

I needed a ream of paper so I was glad to find this deal.
I  got 2 reams of paper for $10. And then I will get $8 back in the mail. You do have to submit for a rebate but you can do this online. I just did it for the first time and it was super easy. The ream was $5 and they rebate you back $4. Plus when I went to the staples website I found out that you can print off a 15% coupon which will make the reams of paper only .75. Not a bad deal if you ask me. : )

If you do this you can go here to submit for your rebate online.
Also remember to print your 15% off coupon.

There are some other good deals if you want to check out their ad it its here.

Loan Modifications are a joke

This blog is based on saving money.  I know there are tons of people out there who are trying to get their home loan modified.  If they were to get their loan modified they would probably be saving a lot of money. However according to Night Line (among many other sources) "the average person trying to get their loan modified will not be able to."

Check out this you tube video.  It is a news story about how a congresswoman was trying to help some homeowners get through to their bank to help them try to get a modification.  She got nowhere just like most of us who have tried.

Super Franks

If you live near Pleasanton and you have little kids you've probably heard of Super Franks.  We went once for a party and it was a nice alternative to Chuck E Cheese.

I learned from a friend that if you go to their website and get on their email list they'll send you a coupon once a week or so.

Plus right now they're offering up this cool T-shirt deal.
Here's what they say:

"... our shirts sport a Super Franks logo on the front and say "SUPER FRANKS PAYS ME TO WEAR THIS SHIRT" on the back....for...$9.99 we'll give your child a free pizza meal and one of our cool tee-shirts (sized youth XS to youth medium). These same shirts are available for purchase without a kids meal for only $5.99....Every time your child wears their tee-shirt into Super Franks, we'll pay them...FOUR tokens for use in the Arcade."

How do you like Super Franks?

3 Free issues Family circle no credit card, no bills

I've signed up for various free magazines and I've never gotten a bill.  It really is free.  These are fun.  Plus they often have coupons in them.  Yea!

You won't be asked for a credit card either.  Just go here.

How I get free things and sometimes make money at Rite Aid

Rite Aid offers a rebate program.  The best part is that you can fill out everything online.  So after a trip there I come straight home and enter the receipt on their website. I get a check from them monthly this way and have received checks for $45 and more from them.

You can also participate in the Rite Aid Video Value program by watching videos to earn various Rite Aid coupons including a $5 off $20 Rite Aid coupon!

Rite aid also offers a $5 off $25 purchase regularly.  These are often on coupons.com.  I rarely go to rite aid without one of those. (either the $5 off $20 or $5 off $25 purchase coupon)

Here's what I did yesterday:
1 Huggies pullups 8.99
1 GE life bulbs 2.00
1 container cinnamon  .99
1 Theraflu cold medicine 4.99
Drink mix 2.49

1 trident gum 1.29 (in order to make it to the $20 mark)
Total: 20.75

Then  I made sure to hand the cashier my $5 off $20 purchase coupon first from the video values site

Then I gave her the rest of my coupons.

$2/1 Pull-Ups coupon found here  Plus I'll get $1 rebate from Rite Aid
Rite aid Q for $1 off pullups located on the video values site.
$2/1 Theraflu coupon found here plus I'll get a $3 rebate
$1.50 coupon for the light bulbs. (I got it online but can't remember where I printed it from)

Total after coupons $7.25 plus .88 in tax= $8.13
But then I'll get $10.99 back in rebates

So my total cost will be $2.13.

Register Rewards

RR's or Register Rewards are manufacturer coupons that print out from a Catalina machine at the register after you have completed your transaction at Walgreens. These do have an expiration date so you have to keep it in mind.  I keep them in a clear zip lock bag in my purse and check frequently to make sure that I don't have any that are about to expire.

These RR's print out when you buy a product that may be advertised in their weekly ad. In Walgreens ad it will tell you which products will earn a RR.  For example let's say Theraflu is on sale for $4.99 and if you buy it a register reward of $4.99 will print out. (I think they're banking on the people who will forget to use the RR.)  Now here is where you can actually make a little bit of money.  For example, I have a coupon for $2 off on theraflu.  I pay $2.99 but then get $4.99 back.  I made $2.

There are also Register Reward deals that are not advertised in the weekly ads and you may notice signs for these in the store. If you don't see a sign or it is not in the ad then it most likely will not generate a RR.

Where do all my coupons come from?

To begin with, the Sunday paper.

My grandma, my dad, my neighbor and sometimes a friend of mine kindly save them for me.  So I usually have 3 sets of the Sunday coupons.  If they didn't do that for me I would definitely buy at least 2 papers per week because the savings way more than covers the cost of the papers.

I have 2 binders.  I admit I'm a coupon nerd.  The one you see above has my unclipped coupons.

Below are all my organized coupons.  They're in my old baseball card holders.  I wish I could say that I invented this system but...

The second place I get my coupons is online.  There are tons of internet coupons now.  The downside is that you have to download a coupon printer.  I've been doing it for over a year and I haven't had any problem with it.  But I know some people don't like to download things.

Here's my favorite source for online coupons: coupons.com
You can usually print at least 2 of each. These reset quite frequently. I usually print out the ones I think I'll use and then wait for a sale to decide if I want to print and others. I also put my printer on the setting that uses less ink.  Also I only have black ink in the printer right now since color is so much more expensive.

Another good source is: smartsource

The brands themselves often have coupons if you go to their website.

$1.17 for over $29 worth of groceries at Walgreens

Maybe you are wondering how in the world did I do that?
My dad calls it my part time job and well...that's what it is.  It doesn't come without work, time or pre-planning.  But I just loooove it!  It is like a game to me.

So I'll start from this trip and try to answer any questions along the way.  Stay tuned.
Here is what I bought with the original prices:

1 8x10 photo collage         3.99
2 gallons white milk            2.70 each
1 half gallon choc milk       3.49
4 cream of soups               1.59 each
2 quaker containers oatmeal 3.49 each
3 dozen eggs                       .99 each

Total $29.19

I had a free photo collage for being a walgreens fan.
2/.50 coupons for the white milk
free half gallon choc milk when you buy 2 gallons white milk
I used the in-ad Q (coupon) for the oats which took a total of $3.98 off plus I combined that with 2 $1 manufacturer coupons making each 18 oz container only .50.
I used another in-ad Q for the soups which took a total of $2.80 off for them and combined that with a .25 manufacturer Q.

My total here now was $12.68
I would have been pretty happy with that amount but...
Here is where it gets a little trickier.

Last week they were running this promotion where if you bought a Bayer Contour Blood Glucose Meter $14.99 you get $5 RR (register rewards). Normally these cost $79 but they were on sale for $14.99. So the coupons were adjusted down to $14.99. I had 2 $30 off coupons for these.  So I bought 2 in 2 separate transactions and I got a total of $10 in free money. So what am I going to do with them? Donate them to someone who needs them.

So I used my $10 in register rewards and then my total was down to 2.68.  I also had another $1 RR so my total was $1.68.  And now for some reason my math isn't adding up correctly.  But according to my receipt I only paid $1.17.  Anywho I hope this is making some sense.
